The Ghana Investment Promotion (GIPC) would lead a 50 member business delegation to this year’s Africa Singapore Business Forum (ASBF), slated for August 28 and 29 in Singapore.
Mr Yofi Grant, GIPC Chief Executive Officer made this known during a meeting with Mr Ian Lee, Regional Director of Singapore Enterprise, Middle East and Africa, in Accra.
Mr Lee was in the country on behalf of the organisers to invite Mr Grant to address this year’s forum and sell Ghana’s investments and trade opportunities to the world.
Mr Grant recalled that Ghana and Singapore had enjoyed good bilateral relations for many years and officials from the two countries continue to cooperate in many areas of mutual benefits, including capacity building and training, education and economic policy making.
The ASBF, which would be organised by the Enterprise Singapore, seeks to bring together close to over 2,000 businesses and government leaders from 30 countries.
Participants are also expected to develop opportunities and partnerships between Africa and Asia.
Mr Grant noted that, as at the end of March 2018, the centre had registered 42 projects from Singapore with an estimated value of $1.5 billion.
According to him, Ghana stood the chance of networking with over 500 business leaders from top companies in Singapore.
“During the meeting Ghanaian businesses would have the opportunity to interact on one on one basis as well as listen to top minds from public and the private sector,” he added.
Mr Grant noted that Singapore was one of the top notch countries in the manufacturing of chocolates and with Ghana being one of the major cocoa producing countries, Ghana stood the chance of benefiting from Singapore in that respect.
According to the CEO of GIPC the world was currently opening up in terms of trade; and countries that opened up stood the chance of benefiting more.
He said Ghana had the best laws that protected businesses and assured investors to tap into that.
Mr Grant said an Asia Business Council would be established in Singapore and would be managed by Enterprise Singapore and GIPC.
He explained that the Asian Business Council would be used as out-post to access huge investment potentials and capital that exist within South Asian region and outside China.
“This is a partnership that we at GIPC cherish and it is dear to our hearts,” the GIPC CEO stressed.
Mr Grant appealed to Ghanaian companies to take advantage of this year’s forum to boost trade and services between the two countries.
Mr Lee described Ghana as one of the best countries to invest in, attributing that to her political stability.
He called on businesses to partake in the forum in order to boost trade between the two countries in the area of health, education, oil and gas, technology, real estate, tourism, manufacturing among others.
Mr Lee said Singapore was looking for countries in Africa to boost its trade and investments, noting that, Ghana was one of the countries to do business.
According to him his country also seeks to engage top minds in business and governments in the area of trade and investments.
