The US Ambassador to Algeria, Ms. Joan A. Polaschik has paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Ambassador Extraordinary plenipotentiary to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, His Excellency Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, at the Ghana Embassy in Algiers.
Welcoming the US Ambassador, H.E Nyamekye-Marfo recalled the excellent relations between Ghana and the USA dating back to the early years of Ghana’s independence in 1957, under the first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
He further acknowledged the positive role the US has played and continues to play in Ghana’s democratic and development processes. Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo brought, into focus, the role of the American Peace Corps, the training of thousands of Ghanaians in the US in various academic and professional disciplines, its involvement in the Ghanaian oil industry and the support of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), among others.
His counterpart, Ms. Polaschik expressed gratitude to Ghana’s Ambassador for the opportunity granted her to visit the Ghana Embassy in Algiers and expressed the hope that Ghana-US relations would continue to be strengthened.
She noted that Ghana’s oil exploitation would lead to an enhancement in its revenue generation which would, in turn, help to strengthen her growth and development in the coming years.
