The Deputy Head of Cooperation of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Zoé Nautré, has held a meeting with Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Musheibu Mohammed Alfa at Wa to discuss current Ghanaian-German cooperation, including a planned photovoltaic plant in the Upper West Region.
A press release from the German Embassy in Accra copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said the German Government had committed a total of Euro 22.8 million towards the financing of this renewable energy project, which will contribute towards the improvement of the lives in the two communities of Lawra and Kaleo, both in Upper West Region.
The delegation also travelled to Nadowli District, also in Upper West, to hand over some workplace equipment to Mr. Saaed Billa, a returning expert.
Mr Saaed Billa was born in Wa and completed a Master’s degree in Cologne, Germany. He then looked for a way to assist his home country and recently assumed the post of Assistant Director at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development at Nadowli District, said the release.
It added that Mr. Saaed Billa was a beneficiary of the program for returning experts, funded by the German government and received some equipment, including a laptop, printer, projector and screen, which will assist him in his daily work.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nautré stated: “Returning experts, like Mr. Billa serve as cultural Ambassadors between Ghana and Germany and strengthen our relationship. I am certain the district will make very good use of the equipment”.
