The Japanese Embassy in Ghana has signed a 285,400 dollar grant with three Non-Government Organisations across the country for development projects in Health and education.
The three organisations are Maata-N-Tudu Association, for the construction of a Health centre at Yong Dakpemyili in the Northern region, Institute of Sustainable Development (ISD) for the construction of 6-unit classroom block and ancillaries at Ajumako in the Central region and the Environmental Development Youth Movement (EDYM), for the construction of the Tafi Abuife CHPS compound, in the Volta region.
The Yong Dakpemyili project would receive 96,200 dollars while the construction of the classroom block and ancillaries would receive 95,400 dollars. The construction of the CHPS compound would also receive 93,800 dollars.
Mr Konlan Lambongang signed for Maata-N-Tudu Association, Mr Ralf Osei-Agyemang signed on behalf of ISD while Mr Paul Yao Kpai signed for EDYM.
The grant formed part of the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGHSP) scheme, to assist grassroots level development projects.
The assistance focuses on supporting various communities with the basic needs in the area of health, education, water and sanitation, agriculture and relief purposes.
Mr Kaoru Yoshimura, Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, who disclosed this in Accra, said the scheme was set up in Ghana in 1989, and has supported over 260 projects across the country.
The Ambassador said the scheme sought to improve basic human needs and undertake projects that were highly beneficial at the grassroots level, as well as improvement of basic facilities.
The Ambassador said he is optimistic that the hard work invested into the projects would improve the health and educational status in these respective communities and its environs.
“I hope the signing ceremony would open new pages of successful cooperation in our long GGHSP history and thrive further the Japan-Ghana friendship “he added.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the gesture and pledged their unflinching support to use the funds for the development of their various communities.
