President Mahammadu Buhari of Nigeria has hailed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his efforts in resolving the political crises in Togo.
He praise his Ghanaian counterpart for brokering peace among the feuding political parties in Togo.
President Buhari made the commendation at the Independence Square in Accra during Ghana’s 61st Independence Day Celebration on the theme “Ghana Beyond Aid.”
“Permit me to put on record Ghana’s untiring effort in brokering peace in Togo by bringing all the warring factions to the negotiating table,” he said.
“I am appealing to all the opposition parties in Togo to please come together to resolve their differences so that Togo will move forward.
“It’s the same thing I wish Nigeria and Ghana to continue to provide the impetus in realising the objectives and ideals of the founding fathers of the Economic Community of West African States to ensure security, peace and development of our region,” he added.
President Buhari also hailed Ghana for taking giant steps to fight corruption; declaring that the setting up of the Special Prosecutor’s Office was an indication that Ghana was ready to rid the country of corrupt officials.
