Mr Ma Biao, Vice Chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, yesterday said China would assist West Africa accomplish its developmental agenda.
He said China appreciated the region’s drive for growth and progress and that it would lend a hand for the realisation of these goals.
Mr Biao, who is at the head of a ten-member delegation, said this when he called on the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Edward Doe Adjaho at Parliament.
The delegation which arrived in the country last Sunday is on a three-day working visit to consolidate and strengthen the cordial ties between Ghana and China.
Mr Biao said there was the need for the two legislatures to work in tandem to intensify ties between Ghana and China.
He gave the assurance that, discussions on the three billion dollar Chinese loan for Ghana’s infrastructural development was on track and progressing.
Mr Adjaho said despite the level of development in China, that country still faced challenges, urging Ghanaians to persevere to overcome the country’s developmental hurdles to come abreast with other parts of the world.
He lauded the efforts of China’s current leadership to improve relations with Ghana, and stressed the need for the relationship between both countries to be beneficial to its people.
The Majority Leader, Dr Benjamin Kunbuor and the Minority Leader, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as well as the Chairman of the Ghana-China Friendship Association and MP for Mion, Dr Ahmed Yakubu Alhassan were present at the meeting.
