The Canadian Governor general made the statement when he met with the vice president of Ghana Paa kwesi Amissah Arthur at a business lunch at the Movinpic hotel together with his Canadian delegation made up of investors as party of his four day official visit to Ghana. He said communication has been a driven force in the life of many nations and was very proud with Ghana’s economic growth and that the path that it has taken in the areas of democracy on the continent and a sees Ghana as a country that has the same shared growth and values with Canada saying the star in the flag of Ghana is a shining example of a country.
He also stated that Canada is a country to do business with and has tens of thousands of Ghanaians in Canada. Adding that Canada has invested a lot in a lot of areas education energy and mining oil and gas and would continue to help the country in those areas. On his part, the vice president extended a warm Ghanaian welcome to the governor general saying that as long as Ghana existed, it people and those of Canada have maintained a strong economic, cultural and political bonds.
He said Canada has been a key source of direct investment in Ghana and Canadian investments in the petroleum, power mining, telecommunications and infrastructure sectors in Ghana are evident for anyone who is moderately observant sector. He also recognized the provision of infrastructure for the further growth of the economy and that the peace and stability of Ghana and the strong democratic credentials we are building that guarantees of personal security for residents have taken years to build, it’s a vital part of our business to put up infrastructure and would strive to maintain them.
