President John Dramani Mahama and his wife, Lordina Mahama, will on Thursday pay a courtesy call on Queen Elizabeth II at the Buckingham Palace in London.
Queen Elizabeth II, Head of State of the United Kingdom is also the constitutional monarch of fifteen other countries and Head of the Commonwealth, of which Ghana is a member.
Thursday’s meeting is part of a number of official engagements the President will be undertaking in London next week a statement from the Flagstaff House said.
This includes an address to the All Party Parliamentary Group at the House of Commons on Ebola and Security in the West African Sub-region, and host investment sessions at the Chatham House and the Royal African Society, the statement said.
President Mahama who leaves Accra on Saturday for London will also open a UK-Ghana Investment Forum and The Global African Investment Summit.
In what will be a busy week of international engagements for the President, the statement said Mr. Mahama will also visit Denmark where he will hold meetings with the Danish Prime Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, and the Crown Prince of Denmark, Prince Federick.
During the two-day official visit to Copenhagen, the President will deliver the keynote address at the main plenary of the Global Green Growth Forum and join the Danish Prime Minister to speak at another plenary on how to transform the consumption pattern of consumers and the citizenry.
In both London and Copenhagen, President Mahama will hold meetings with various business and investment groups with a view to showcasing the opportunities available in Ghana and the Continent for investment.
